No. Although we often work alongside your GP, we are primary healthcare practitioners so you do not need to be referred.

If for any reason we need to refer you to your GP for further testing, we will always get your written consent first.

We will need to be able to see your area of concern and the area around it, so you will be asked to undress to underwear/shorts and bra for this. We recommend wearing non restrictive shorts and for women to wear a full coverage bra that can be opened at the back if working on the spine.

For scar therapy patients, please wear something that can easily be removed or lifted for easy access to the scar. Blankets and throws are provided for modesty and comfort.

If you have any x-rays, blood tests or scans relating to a current medical investigation or your complaint, then please bring them if you are happy to do so. If you are on several different medications, it would be helpful to bring in a copy of your repeat prescription so that we can make an accurate note of medications and dosages.

For osteopathy, we usually recommend 3-6 appointments depending on your recovery and goals.

For patients with long term conditions, maintenance appointments can be made every 3, 4, 6 weeks depending on your needs. We do not block book and will not keep you coming back unnecessarily.

For scar therapy patients, we recommend 3-6 appointments, however, you may chose to have regular or semi regular appointments until you are happy with your scar. Improvement rates will depend on factors such as age of scar, type of scar, type of tissue trauma etc.

Scar therapy is recommended as soon as possible after the wound has fully healed. This occurs usually at 8 weeks.

For patients who have undergone radiotherapy, we are able to treat the area 3 weeks after your last radiotherapy session to allow time for adequate skin healing.

If there are any signs of seromas (fluid filled pockets), bruising, or necrosis, then see your consultant first.

We advise to always get consultant approval before starting scar therapy, especially in the case of complex surgeries or healing.

We have a variety of high quality oils and waxes that are used depending on the modality of treatment being used.

We are able to use unscented waxes for those with sensitive skin, and the majority of the products used are fully plant based.

For scar therapy we use very gentle, fully natural balms and plant oils chosen for their proven skin healing properties. To reduce friction in some techniques we use 100% organic arrowroot powder.

For patients with more complex scar needs, we have ALHYDRAN silicone gels and silicone strips.

You can contact us via telephone, WhatsApp, email, or via our social media. We do not currently have an online booking system, so when you contact us, we will let you know what times are available.

We ask that all appointments are paid for in advance. This is to reduce no shows and covers our fees for room rental. We have a generous cancellation policy which is sent to you when you have booked your appointment.

We do not currently accept health insurance.

You are welcome to bring a chaperone to your appointment if you need someone to translate or if you have mobility, medical, psychological, or learning difficulties where you require assistance. Other than this, ask that the person accompanying you wait in the waiting room for the duration of the appointment.

If you have children with you, then you are welcome to bring them into the room with you. We ask that you bring them some form of entertainment to keep the little ones busy whilst you receive your treatment.

Advance Body Therapies prides itself on being a safe space to all. We are LGBTQ+, disability, and breastfeeding friendly.

Due to the requirement to screen for sex related medical conditions and possible medication side effects, we do ask our transgender patients to disclose their sex assigned at birth and any medication they are on relating to their transition. This allows us to better protect you and your health.

Unfortunately we do not have disabled access and cannot accommodate those requiring a wheelchair.
