Osteopaths are highly trained and regulated musculoskeletal specialists that take a hands on approach to a patient’s recovery and rehabilitation. Osteopathy doesn’t just treat the musculoskeletal system, but it also works within the neurological, vascular, and lymphatic system, as well as addressing lifestyle factors; aiming to remove barriers to healing and allowing the body to use its own natural healing mechanisms.

In a typical osteopathic appointment, you will have a thorough case history taken. This is to get a good picture of your health and screen for any conditions that may masquerade as a musculoskeletal condition.

You will have an assessment which will include having your blood pressure taken, palpating on and around the area of complaint, performing active and passive movements, as well as other tests and examinations that may be necessary to gain a working diagnosis.

You will have your working diagnosis explained to you before receiving your treatment. The treatment may include a mixture of massage, mobilisations, stretching, manipulations (clicking), cupping, and taping, among others. You are welcome to decline any treatment modality, but be assured that the treatment provided is tailored to your specific needs and condition, and your safety and comfort are always our top priority.
Osteopaths work with local GPs and services and are able to refer you to your for further testing or support if necessary.

89.5% of osteopathic patients had symptom improvement after one week, and at 6 weeks, 96.2% of osteopathic patients reported significant improvement or complete recovery.
